Hiking in Montmartre: a walk in the heart of Paris
Montmartre, perched on its famous hill, offers a unique experience for lovers of urban walking. As soon as you start climbing, the cobbled streets wind past charming ivy-covered houses and quaint little cafés. As you climb, you are treated to breathtaking panoramic views of Paris, with the Sacré-Coeur basilica as the crowning glory. The bohemian atmosphere, once frequented by artists such as Picasso and Van Gogh, remains intact, making this walk an immersion in history and art.
The walk also takes you to lesser-known places, such as the Place des Abbesses and the "Je t'aime" wall, where every corner exudes poetry. A stop at Place du Tertre, famous for its street painters, is a must. There's a real sense of creative effervescence here. A walk in Montmartre is much more than just a stroll: it's an exploration of the artistic and cultural roots of Paris, all in an enchanting, timeless setting.
Rue Daguerre is a very pleasant shopping street, perfect for a stroll, with a wealth of boutiques, café terraces, wine merchants, bakeries and food shops. At number 63, behind a porte cochère, is the Cité Artisanale, a former workers' housing estate set in a cobbled, flower-filled cul-de-sac. At number 86, you'll see the little pink house where film director Agnès Varda once lived. The street is entirely reserved for pedestrians on Sundays and public holidays from 10am to 6pm, providing a peaceful and pleasant atmosphere in which to stroll.
